Social distancing....

Monday, March 16, 2020

Well, just as I decided to return to the gym, it closed. Our governor closed all gyms, etc for the next 8 weeks because obviously we individually are not doing a great job with social distancing! Guess I will keep walking outdoors and working out at home! Oh well.

With so many things closed, my special needs son is going a bit stir crazy at home. His job is closed, all his sporting activities have been cancelled, church is cancelled - so he is struggling a bit. Personally, I am glad these things are suspended - as he would be high risk. Yesterday, I picked him up and we went two hour walk in the woods - not exactly a workout, but it was outdoors in the sunshine! Not sure who enjoyed it most, him, me or the dog! Felt that was a pretty safe place to be. No close contact with people, and fresh air!

I've been doing ok. The weight loss has slowed down quite a bit. Still coming down, but no more 6 ounces or more a day. I also have been working some healthy carbs in my diet. Still trying to keep them around 30 -40 a day. This week it was a baked potato! Yum! Who would think one would get excited about eating a baked potato?

Today I finally dipped into Onderland - just barely (199.8) but I am there! Hopefully to stay!

The virus precautions have people pretty scared. People are hoarding food, paper products, you name it. Crazy stuff. Luckily, I was able to get the things I needed at the store - did have to hit two stores to get milk - but I was able to get it. Hopefully over the next couple weeks this will die down. I have enough food in my house to eat for a while - it may not be things I would want to eat right now, but I could if necessary!

Stay safe out there people!

We're also having spec needs struggles here, the disruption in schedule is really tough for him to take, but I'm trying to use it as a time to teach him how to handle change. So far, it's only going so-so.

    Good luck!!

Yes, the world is shut down for the next few weeks. Getting fresh air is good for everyone. Keep on doing that on a daily basis. Been opening windows when temps. get over 55. Though the cold weather is coming back. Stay safe .

In my village today people are putting shamrocks in their windows so the kids can go around and do a shamrock hunt on their walks. I decided to "up the anti" and am offering a contest and photo op at my place and they can text me their answers. My daughter and nephew are special needs and high risk. And I have a sister and brother in law who are still in the US and not returned yet to Canada. And social isolation is really behind in some of the provinces. Sigh. We will do our best! Spread love not the virus!

Getting outside is the healthiest and safest thing we can do for ourselves right now. I'm glad we live near the beach.

A hike sounds perfect - wish I could get my special needs son out of the house for something like that. Still a little cold here and it snowed a bit yesterday, but didn't stick.

Walking in the sunshine is just about as healthy as you can get - and protecting your son from risk is even better. Just keep your positive attitude through this insanity and you will be fine.

This is hitting hard at my house. My DH got type A flu on Thursday and we were dealing with this and now the coronavirus hits! With help from a neighbor we were able to get his prescription filled and our daughter brought in a few items we needed. Hope all are doing well!
