MAMADEE's Blog ~ SP Day 5075

Minutes before midnight - still awake

My motto for the coming days!
or weeks!
months, even!

Today, Thursday, March 12, 2020 we got news that all schools in our area will be closing next week!
For some it's the start of Spring Break anyway - but it's being extended.
For all, regardless of when they are to have their scheduled Spring Break, it means until the end of March, or sometime in April, or even until the end of this school year!!!!!!!!!! No more classes at the school buildings!
Education will continue for the time being in some form of distance learning, or teleclasses, or online classes. Specifics will be forthcoming.

Then news came of DISNEYLAND, DISNEY WORLD, & UNIVERSAL theme parks being CLOSED the rest of March!

And it seems now that ALL sorts of sporting events, fairs, rodeos, concerts, etc. are being cancelled for March, into April, even May - and they may or may not get rescheduled!

What's happening in your area in regards to this COVID-19?

Til next time,

In Az. all schools are closed! My husband works on the military post and he came home today and said in a couple of days he may be off for 2 wks. There is no toilet paper to be found in any of the stores here. And the shelves are empty for any paper products and even the meats. I've never seen anything like it but we just hope we don't get it...take care everyone. This is real!

Wisconsin just went from 8 confirmed cases yesterday, to 19 today!!! emoticon
167 have tested negative so far.
So 186 people in this state had symptoms that made them think they have this virus, so they went in and were tested?
Not sure where they all are - but I suspect we'll see those numbers climb a lot in the next several days.

Decisions being made re: elementary schools/high schools (w/the high probability that they will switch to internet instruction). The state university system is on extended spring break (till the 29th) then internet instruction.

Large venues are not going to remain open..

Same here in Michigan! We have 12 confirmed cases so far, but I have no doubt that number is much higher because of the lack of testing.

    Stay healthy!

I think it's pretty much the same everywhere. We all need to manage this the best we can and be smart about our actions. Stay calm and use your head.

SF East Bay Area: some assisted living facilities are under lockdown - no visitors allowed. Senior centers have cancelled bingo, table tennis, canasta and some other activities. Stores are all short on toilet paper. A nearby county has prohibited gatherings over 50 people. The local schools are considering closure. I think it’s dawning on everyone that life is not going to be quite the same for quite some time. I cancelled my Kaiser doctor’s appointment because I was leery of entering the facility. I’ll do a remote visit instead on my iPad. emoticon emoticon

My husband is a professor and is having to scramble to get his classes up and running as a virtual classroom. He too had been given an extra week of break.
