Stress Painting

Thursday, March 12, 2020

I went to art classes in high school as I loved to paint. I stopped painting to have three children. When they all grow up and moved out I took an arts and craft class. I did a little painting but only on rocks and wooden cut out letters. I did not really get in to it. But was given some paint to take home. I always thought some day I will paint again on canvas. Fifteen years later I have in my life a friend of my hubby Terry C. who is a local artist. I am inspired by him. He bought for me two canvas and I painted with my old almost dried out paint. They turned out so good they inspired my hubby and Terry to go in on buying me a few new start up supplies. Now I paint when stress hits me instead of stress eating. The painting takes my mind out of what is bothering me. And with a paint brush in hand I can't and don't want to eat. Today was very stressful with all the news about the virus. I am doing what I can, staying home and washing my hands when I do have to go out. Since I can't do anything else I will just pick up my paints and paint how I feel. Today's painting is of a road taking me far from stress.

    Nice painting, Kathryn!! emoticon

I saw a post on Facebook today where someone is painting happy pictures on rocks and "hiding" them in a park. She said others could find them and "hide" them somewhere else for others to find. I loved the idea, but wasn't sure if COVID-19 could live on the surfaces of the painted rocks long enough to infect others. Not sure it's worth the risk, but it was a really neat idea.

Great painting and I agree that painting is such a stress reducer.

I paint a few paintings every 12 years or so. It seems my creativity and therapy come more in the gardening form, in recent years.

Both fantastic things do do, with our current situation.

GREAT JOB Kathryn!! WTG!! That came out so nicely too!!

I did some Weds (See blog) and tomorrow I'm teaching a class on paint pouring. I'll be paid for the supplies and a little bit more, so that's nice!!

Since you live in a high rise, do you all do any activities? Do you have a Council for events? I am the secretary of ours. We are active enough, but not to much. PHEW!!

We LOVE raising $$$ to take a trip each year, and also 1 or 2 community cookouts.

    YUMMY!!!

Fantastic! It’s always great to keep ones eyes busy, one’s hands busy! That does clear the mind! And you’re too preoccupied to eat!
