Decluttering

Thursday, March 05, 2020

Hubby and I are downsizing and decluttering before moving into a senior living community with levels of care. This is a gradual process...I try to get some things out of the house on a daily basis. Today I tossed my two oldest pairs of tennis shoes and my oldest pair of sandals. I dropped a box and a bag of household items at the thrift store. Baby steps.....

I am decluttering also. My next move probably will be into a senior community, but that’s a few years down the road. It is amazing how many clothes I have kept that do not fit me.

As you said, baby steps are awesome. You don't feel stressed and yet you're working towards your goals. The thrifty store must be thrilled.

Taking something out on a daily basis will really help when moving day comes along.
Not sure if you have family nearby, but maybe you can use this idea. When my mother-in-law was moving to a different city, she asked all of her kids to pop by and take any items that they wanted. Of course she did have a pile of "This is what I'm taking with me, so leave it alone" It helped her with her downsizing and her kids got stuff too!

emoticon Hubby and I will probably downsize to a smaller house in 3-4 years and decluttering will definitely be necessary. Actually it might be a good idea if we started now - we might need that long! emoticon

Good luck with your continued decluttering Evelyn!
