Reasons to Celebrate

Monday, March 02, 2020

When my Mom was still living with us, when someone saw the first robin of spring, we'd celebrate by sending out for pizza. So, Saturday I went with my friend to the Lamberton Conservatory at Highland Park to get a bit of color after all the drab winter grays, browns, blacks, and whites.

It's a lovely place, and my favorite part is the Rainforest section (cuz, you know, Peru)

But even before we got inside, I saw this flutter of activity - ROBINS, flitting around! In winter! Usually I don't see them till St. Patrick's Day!

Well...could be because the park has some sheltered areas and they were able to stay and find food. Or COULD be from climate change - global warming.

But for whatever reason, I'm always glad to see the songbird. I didn't get home until late, but I told my DD, and we decided that when I got back from church on Sunday, we'd go out to Mel's Diner for a change.

We were also celebrating in advance the 2 year anniversary (March 3) of my DD and her 2 kids escaping from an abusive relationship.

It was a great weekend!
