Happy half-year to me!

My original goal when introduced to Sparkpeople was to go from 246 pounds, down to 190 by Leap Year Day. Then I quit logging in because I was failing miserably. My doctor told me at my July check up to try losing weight, and I almost screamed at him, "You tell me that every year, and I can't!" So, he sent me to an endocrinologist. She said I needed to do a 30 carb per day diet. I said I couldn't. But determined to prove to her how bad that kind of diet is, I promised to research and prepare meals for a week. That week was exhausting with recipes, figuring carbs, and recording. But I wasn't hungry and I lost weight. And I loved the new foods. Now that week has turned into half a year. There have been struggles and failures. But this works. My husband joined me on low carb 3 days before Thanksgiving. He's doing great too. I know I could just have easily failed at this diet, were it not for friends, my endocrinologist, strength from my Bible reading and Celebrate Recovery group, and so many people and articles on Sparkpeople. I never want to forget that more than 90% of dieters regain all the weight. This is a new way of life, food, addiction recovery, and logging in to Sparkpeople daily to read, log, vent, and see progress. Thanks for being with me on this journey!
