On February 13, 2011, my first husband passed away in his sleep. We were planning to go to a favorite restaurant for Valentine's Day, one that serves Chinese, Vietnamese, and Thai cuisine.
Meanwhile, one of my old high school buddies had just experienced a bad breakup after 13 years, discovering that her ex had someone on the side.
So we decided to go out together on Valentine's Day to this restaurant.
Then I remarried...but my husband is Peruvian and hasn't got his visa yet. So, in effect, my Valentine is some 3500 miles away.
And my friend hasn't taken on another relationship. So...we have been going out to this restaurant ever since 2011.
We've been friends since we were freshmen in high school. We've had some years where we weren't in touch much, but these last years we have become closer. I'm truly blessed to have such a friend.
Meanwhile, my husband is arranging an outreach at our church in Pucallpa for "Dia de las Amistades" (Day of Friendships). I can't BE there, but I sent some money to help make the day special.
May you all find yourselves with good friends!
