It'll be here in just four days............. it's a Friday, and I'll be at work. One of the things I'll be doing that day is supporting someone to attend the local Slimming World group for a weigh-in and meeting. I like doing this shift, because I know that some of the other support workers find excuses NOT to take her to the SW meeting - they'd rather get in the car and go off to town to spend money and drink coffee. With me she gets 3 km walking done, and has a life-enhancing meet-up with other members of the Slimming World group, and we still get a coffee.
But that's not the point - the point, for me, is that I'll be at work on Valentine's Day. On the one hand, that means I'll be busy. On the other hand, there'll be a lot of talk about Valentine's Day at work!
As most of you know, I'm a member of the 100 Days of Weight Loss by Linda Spangle team - which addresses emotional eating habits. So, I've been reminded that the best way to handle Valentine's Day is to PLAN for it!
All the local cafes, pubs and restaurants have their special Valentine's menus on display. Going to eat on my own on Valentine's Day is not something I'd do - that would be TOOOOO uncomfortable! However, the Co-op has some heart-shaped crumpets - which would be a nice treat! I might choose to eat those - with Marmite (no sugar!)
After work I am going to go to the gym.......... which is a supreme act of self-care!
I've bought myself a 'rose and frankincense' bath bomb from the local natural cosmetic maker
Pure Enough Stuff - they are housed in an iconic building known at The Egyptian House!
And a pair of new pyjamas! I went to a proper 'outfitters' in town, and the only pair they had in my size was blue with little hearts on the material. Very cute 100% cotton.
So, the PJs and the bath bomb are in my drawer, ready for Friday, 14th.
I don't need chocolates or bubbly, or flowers, or cards.
My plan is to get tucked up in bed in my new PJs, to sip a cup of something nice (maybe hot chocolate, maybe just a tea) and feeling good about myself.
Have you got a plan for Friday, 14th?
