Eating when work schedule is different than most.

I work from 3 pm to 3 am Sunday thru Friday. I was having a hard time figuring out an eating schedule because my hours integrate 2 days into 1, so I had to rethink what my 24 hour day was, My morning starts around 11 am. so this is my breakfast time. 3 pm I start work so I have a quick snack around this time. 5 pm is my lunch, although work says it's 7 pm. at this time I have another snack and have super at 9 pm. 11 pm and 1 am are like my night time so I just have more light snacks. What I have been doing is making up my menu first thing in my morning and then trying to stretch it out into 5 or 6 smaller meals eating something ever two hours. So far this seems to be working although it is confessing. I no longer eat after 1 am but wake up staving. I may have to tweak this again but I will figure it out.

    Good luck with figuring out your eating schedule! You may also ant to look at foods that will keep you feeling fuller longer. That was one of the things I had to figure out when I joined sparkpeople, So I added more whole grains and whole wheat to my menus. I am one of these girls that has to have food! LOL Fortunately I have my sister along for this journey.

    I did a lot of overnight shifts back in my working days. It was always the toughest on days off going back to a day time schedule, which I did since I had my husband and family on that schedule. I applaud you for figuring out how to work in your daily meals working from 3 PM to 3 AM.

    Oh, how I hated the shift work when I was in the military as my body never knew what time it was as we were constantly rotating the shifts.

    Good for you for taking the time to figure things out for you and your system and tweaking it whenever necessary.
