MAMADEE's Blog: SP ~ Day 5023

4 WEEKS since my last blog!!! emoticon

No, it's not my puppy!
But it is where I'm at - so to speak. emoticon
I'm in recovery mode.
It's Monday night. I'm at home, resting... A LOT!

Thursday night I got on a plane in Houston, TX, where it was about 80F degrees and fairly high humidity (for me). Two hours and 30 minutes later I got off that plane in Milwaukee, WI where it was -1F degree (you read that right, NEGATIVE ONE DEGREE)!!! BRRR!!!

My trip wasn't quite over. It was very late so I stayed at one of my daughter's home near Appleton (approx 2 hr drive) for the night. With a blizzard in the forecast we opted for the drive to my home (about 4 hrs from MKE airport) to be completed during daylight hours.

Friday morning, two of my daughters that live in Wausau came to get me and take me the remainder of way home. We all made it to our respective homes about an hour before it began to snow & about 3 hours before conditions turned to full blizzard, white-out conditions & remained so for the next 12 hours. We ended up with about 8 inches more of snow on the ground. I'm guessing we currently have about 14-16 inches on the ground around my apartment.

When I left, abruptly, for Houston back on the 17th of December we barely had an inch anywhere. While we did have snow earlier, we'd had many warmer days that melted it away. Now, we're deep into January and it would be quite surprising to see temps get above 32F anymore... until March or April, usually. But then, we've been on quite a record-breaking spell so who knows if this winter will end up as usual or not so much.

My mom is doing so much better now! Quite the surprise to everyone! She is home. Still getting some therapy at home as 3 weeks in bed with all her body went thru left her very weak and she still has a ways to go to regain her strength to where it was prior to her surgery on Dec 11th. Be we are all rejoicing that she is still with us and it appears will be for some time to come! emoticon

I think I slept most of Saturday! emoticon
Sunday was busy with many friends! emoticon emoticon
And today, other than one appointment (I had to cancel 6 of them while I was gone), I had quite the lazy day but I did still manage my walking emoticon and stretching emoticon in 10-minute spurts.

Now, I'm looking forward to catching up with everything & EVERYONE here on Spark People emoticon emoticon

So, til next time,
