" One thing that really irritates me is a thousand things.." Chelsea Peretti

I won't bore you with my ultra long list. I will tell you I am working on it. In finding the good
in the bad, to be happy with less, and to find joy in the little things. To be thankful for
it all.

Today someone said they were visiting my mom, we are trying to space out our visits
her room is small . We would like someone there everyday , The someone that was
supposed to go felt sick and didn't and did not inform the rest of us.

I am calling my mom shortly to see how her day went in the nursing home
In the future I will not count on others ,

I did have a lovely walk this afternoon the birds were singing so prettily . The air was crisp .
The sun was just starting to peak out.

I made some lovely roasted chicken but the husband was in a hurry to eat
before it was thoroughly cooked . It went back in for tomorrow, On the plus
side I got him to eat his veggies .

The sheets are clean the bed is made .The pellet stove is filled , wash and dishes
done, Tomorrow is another day . Another day to turn around and be more positive .
Another day to enjoy life more, Keep Looking for Hugs Happiness and Healthy Living

Hard when you depend on someone and they let you down. Can't help getting sick, but would have been good to let you know! **SIGH**

It stinks when others fail. But perhaps it was a good thing they didn't bring germs to your mom. Either way please be kind to yourself. (((hugs)))

    Sounds like a lovely walk.

I found many would say 'we will visit your dad' but few really did. Something about nursing home scars people.

A daily visitor will keep her engaged but not tire her out.
    Social stimulation is so important.

Great idea to rota the visits and keep her company and it won't tire her out!

Joanne in case no one else has told you so, you are one AMAZING daughter to be so considerate and caring.

Shame that someone who was supposed to go fell ill and neglected to let you know, but it happens.
Take good care of you whilst all this is happening.

I too had a lovely walk in crisp air..........certainly woke me up. But it's miserable out today so guess I'll hit my gym room..

Rest when you can babes emoticon

Disappointments come for sure, but there will likely be times when family is not present. Mother is in a facility where there are many lovely ladies, most all widows like her. I hope she has opportunity to meet the others who are there. You never know, but she may make some new friends.

Silly question but did someone visit everyday when mum was at home?
How many of you are there for your attempted rota?
Are you all close to the home?

Don’t vex yourself that sometimes no one visits, you have to take care of yourself and your husband too.

I know it's not an easy time, Jo. But you are amazing in how you deal with the bumps in the road.

It is a nice idea to organize the visits but that is hard to do. Try not to worry about what others are doing. Each of you make your own schedule. If everyone shows up at once, then just visit together. No stress.....

Thinking of you re your mom. When my mom was in a nursing home it was difficult to have people come and visit her at different times - seems like everyone wants to come at the same time - but we also have to understand that as they age they do spend a lot more time napping so we need to take that into consideration. Due what you and she will be happy
