Settling in to 2020

I haven't blogged in a bit and thought it was time to. "Surviving" the holiday season went pretty well, I think. I put on about 3lbs but have already managed to get that back off plus another half pound. I think what helped is that I didn't put a lot of focus on what I "could eat" and what I "couldn't eat," I just ate what I wanted - BUT - with controlled portions and I still logged EVERYTHING. It helped to keep me from binge eating. There were one or two days where I was quite a bit over on my calories but logging it really helped me to keep things in check and not let the food train get away on me. It was a reminder that I indulged yesterday so today we're going to be a little more diligent. It worked for me. I think what also helped was that I kept moving. I was still running on the treadmill 3x a week over the holiday and I also did some strength training. Overall, I consider it a success. :)
The BF and I were talking the other day about our progress (he's down 30lbs!) and he asked me if I still have cravings for certain foods. After thinking about it, I realized that I really don't. I can drive past a fast food joint and not want to pull in; I can look at the box of doughnuts a co-worker brought in and pass them by; when watching a movie I don't HAVE TO have a bag of chips in my hand. And I don't feel like I am missing out or depriving myself. What I do find, however, is that sometimes cravings will arise in certain situations. For example, as NYE approached, all I could think about was Chinese food. Why? Well, because for years now we have ordered Chinese food for NYE. It's tradition. Did we end up getting Chinese food? Yes. Yes we did. lol There are just some cravings you have to give in to! :)
With all of that behind me now and my focus reset, I am excited for what 2020 is going to bring. When I (re)started back in September 2019, I set a goal to have lost all of my weight by my birthday at the end of June. I'm down 24 lbs so far and have about 35 lbs to go, which is about 5 lbs a month and a very attainable goal. So, let's get moving!
What goals have you set for yourself for 2020?
