"The Christian Atheist" - Craig Groeschel
4 out of 5 star
GREAT book! Simple to read, but great message!!! Very convicting in the very best way.
Summary: Basically, too many Christians claim to be Christians, but don't at all live out the lifestyle.
"Just because we DO good, doesn't mean we know the One who IS good."
"We need to make an effort to get to know God."
[ Basically, it doesn't just happen. Or, as one of my favorite quotes goes, "Unless you are actively moving closer to God, you are, in fact, moving away from Him."]
"Countless well-intentioned people believe in God but don't know Him personally."
"We believe in God but our lives don't reflect who He really is."
"Before you can tap into God's life-changing power, you have to eliminate the excuses."
[Regarding how God can change your life, but you have to put in the work, as well.]
"Change won't just take all the strength you have; it will take more. You need God's power. Do what you can, and trust God to do what you can't."
"Think about this polluted theology: "I tried religion, but it didn't make me happy. I went to church and it didn't make my life any better. God didn't help me have a better life, so either He failed me or He's not real. Either way, I'm not interested.""
"When we believe our pursuit of happiness gives us license to sin, we become Christian Atheists. God never condones sin, no matter how happy it makes us, or seems to make us. We are experts at rationalizing,..."
