Another decade has passed

Where do the years go?
I remember watching a show on TV welcoming the new decade of the 60s. I was 10, I remember Carol Burnett was on the show, and the idea of a whole decade was beyond me.
Hard to believe it's been 20 years since everyone was panicking about Y2K. That year I actually stayed up to midnight wondering if life as we knew it would end, but nothing happened. The world shrugged and moved on. I suppose there is a lesson in that.
This last decade has seen two more grandchildren arrive, kids get new jobs, grandchildren graduating from high school. And I have been watching my mother sink into dementia, and my husband's brilliant mind slowing along with his body. Ten years from now? Mom will be gone, probably my husband, too. I wonder if I'll still be able to be here in the house I have loved for nearly 35 years.
I'll let the years unroll as they have before I was born and will after I'm gone. God will continue to watch over us all.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be. Forever and ever. Amen.
