It's 12/30/19 ... and, as I am writing this we have a little more than a full day left to this year. The holidays are almost over and it is time to begin looking toward a bright and shiny NEW YEAR.
2020 will be an exciting time for me and my family as my DD is getting married in June. What does that mean? I really, REALLY want to look (and feel) good in my dress! So ~ once the New Year begins, I know that I must recommit myself to a healthy lifestyle. I will continue with my membership at our local YMCA. I will make sure to get outside and walk whenever I can (I do like walking outside - it gives you a chance to drink up a little sunshine and get some fresh air). I'm recommitting myself to a Keto-lifestyle and I will strive to drop (at least) a few pounds.
How will I accomplish all of this? With SparkPeople, of course and all of the tools that are offered in this outstanding community. I am on a group called Team Keto! This group is incredibly supportive and those that are in the group are from all levels of the program from beginners to those that consistently follow the Keto Lifestyle. The members share their journey with one another and consistently help each other (and new members) with both personal accounts as well as highlighting books and articles that support any and all subjects that are discussed.
Next, a team member-led Challenge that is close to my heart: The 5% Challenges. I'm taking the next section from a previous blog written specifically about the 5% Challenges:
'In searching for a team where I felt a strong connection and belonging, I stumbled across the 5% Challenges. I was invited to 'check it out' in the spring of 2010 by someone that I had met on the site. I joined the 5% Challenge Community and since there was a Challenge already 'in progress', I was put on a team that was able to 'follow along' with the regular Challenge to get a 'taste' of what the Challenges were like. After that Challenge ended, I signed up and found a group where I was welcomed with open arms. For most of the seasonal 5% Challenges since, I have been a member and have moved up to somewhat of a mentor as well. I am one of the Co-Leaders of the Overall 5% Challenges and enjoy working with the 5% Challenge Community. So, here it is: THIS is your INVITATION!

Finally, a new team has been started which has nothing to do with the 5% Challenges, but promises to be a compliment and an 'extra' support tool for the New Year. This team is called: 'Go the Distance in 2020'. Basically, you set YOUR goal for the number of miles that you want to walk in 2020. Then, simply check in daily, weekly, or monthly to track the number of miles you have walked. How many miles can YOU walk in the New Year???
