Planning Day #3 - What one physical activity do you need to focus on most in 2020?
Every January I toy with the idea of training to run a 5K and every year I end up going "Yeah, nah."
Truth be told, I really don't like running. Tried it a number of times and it's just not for me. I would never be able to make myself comply.
Yesterday I spent a good bit of time mulling over a different issue entirely, and inadvertently answered a part of my physical activity question at the same time.
So, I was thinking about how to bring some joy back into my life, and I remembered a few weeks ago stumbling across the idea of revisiting what brought me joy as a child and seeing if any of those things were still relevant.
Aside from the obvious things - people laughing at my jokes, getting 100% on a test, playing with the cat - some of the images that arose were of running and playing tennis or badminton and dancing.
Hunh. Those were images I was not expecting. But I do remember enjoying those things. I would practice my serve over and over if I didn't have a partner or a court to play on.
And even as a fat little kid, there were times when I just LOVED to run. Or ride a bike really fast. I couldn't run very far, but those little sprints were actually joyful.
So that's my goal for next year. To "move frequently at a comfortable pace" and "sprint once in a while".
