What have I done so far for my jacket?

Saturday, December 07, 2019

The jacket. Mmmm! Well! What have I done so far for it to fit with a little wiggle room rather than “just” fit?

First, facing what I weigh. Before buying it, after two short nights, I didn’t record my weight because I don’t lose water weight over night if my nights are too short. I normally weigh daily because it works for me. This week, I did record after short nights, so the first step was honesty. Now I have to weigh a smidgeon less tomorrow or I’ll be out of the 3% maintenance challenge.

What else have I done? No sweet snacks on the way home from work when it’s getting late. That’s it! Honesty and no sweet snacks. Oh! One more thing - no dessert when we go out to eat.

Tomorrow, I have a posh ‘do,’ which was what pushed me to go out and buy the jacket. I’m going to wear it with a raspberry-colored blouse. When I’m near my scream weight, buying clothes in Japan is not my favorite thing. Never is actually. Now I’m teetering between the very top of normal clothes and having to go to the large size department. In England, I used to renew my wardrobe every few years. Here, I keep wearing the same things for decades. I actually bought my one boxy jacket seventeen years ago! A successful buy is exhilarating, though!

Holidays are coming up, but it’s actually easier to control my weight because we don’t do much for Christmas here. Looking forward to it!

You're on the right path to reaching that goal of having the wiggle room in the jacket!

I am sure you and your new jacket will enjoy your first outing. Like the idea of the raspberry blouse with it . . . and yes, fresh raspberries are one of my own fave sweet treats!!

Honesty and less sugar are probably the 2 best tools in your kit. Glad you get a chance to wear that chic jacket - and a raspberry blouse sounds divine!

I've been sliding down the slippery sweet slope this week myself - So easy to do after a successful couple of weeks. I think I'll pull my own truth tool out and apply it to me. Thanks for the reminder. Today will be a soup day

Shopping for clothes in Japan would be tough. Even here in the US some companies, I think Gap, have a special sizing line for Asian women. They are much smaller than westerners.

It sounds like you are making progress toward making that great jacket look even better. No sweet snacks and no dessert sounds like it will help.

I share your dislike of buying clothes in Japan. It is most unpleasant and discouraging. But sometimes I can find something that fits and looks good at H&M, as they have things in bigger sizes than a regular Japanese shop, where I'm unlikely to find anything that'll even zip up. A lot of H&M's things are cheap-looking (in every sense of the word), but every once in a while there'll be something good.

It's wonderful that you found something good for your special event. A raspberry-colored blouse sounds like the perfect match for that jacket. Have a great time!
