I just started reading this book: Secrets From the Eating Lab, by Traci Mann, Ph.D, who is a professor of psychology at the University of Minnesota and an expert in the psychology of eating, dieting, and self-control. This book is to explain "the science of weight loss, the myth of willpower and why you should never diet again" -- it seems that for the past couple of years that is the trend that is selling books. The copyright of this book is 2015, the same year Dr. Furhman came out with his End of Dieting. And this month Dr. Michael McGregor, author of How Not to Diet, is coming out with his How Not To Diet.
As I research which type of diet to choose, I hear and often say myself, "It is not a 'diet" per se, but it is a lifestyle.This is the way we should eat for the rest of our lives. Hey, I remember hearing that way back in the 1980's.
But, I am struggling getting with my lifestyle plan of eating that I want to do -- for the rest of my life. Ha! So, when I found this book in a pile of books at the library book sale, I grabbed. I am so interested in learning the science of why I cannot seem to get with my plan ~snark.
I am going to attempt to read this book and finish it and in doing so I am going to take notes and then post each chapter of what I learned. Basically, this is so I will hopefully remember what I am reading -- just in case it is full of nuggets of truths that I should really remember and apply to my "new lifestyle".
