Bathroom update and life in general

Wednesday, December 04, 2019

I still had my bathroom to finish, mostly just prime the walls, replace the strip of boarder,Thank God I saved the leftover to replace. The major thing was the P-trap under the sink had a small leak. I just put a pan under it and until I figured out how to take care of it.

I had asked my oldest son to take care of it..... but he kept saying yes but never got to it. Well my other son had tried and he couldn't get the pipe loose.

Thanksgiving my son who lives in Arizona always comes home to see his dad. He and the oldest go north to spend Thanksgiving with their dad. But I get him for at least a day, so I asked him to fix it as he is/was a contractor. he now works at Zillow hiring all the contractors nationwide.
So he gets the pipes off after some effort and not cracking my old cast iron pipes, he now has to figure out how to attach new stuff to make things work.
So we go to Menards and we buy everything he might need. I also buy a new sink as I figure might as well since everything else is new. He wanted to replace the cabinet as the bask board had broken off I told him no I still liked the cabinet just put an L brace on it .
So we got everything home and they started to work on getting things attached and replaced. The main pipe still won't take a connection so he goes back, and buys another part, returns, still not taking it, meanwhile my oldest calls him to ask whats going on thought you'd all be here by now. So he gets back from Menards the new piece works!
We all leave with Josh going to moms house with her so she won't drive in dark we go to Menards again to return a part and pick up another.
Brian was supposed to stay at oldest's Joes house and leave in the morning, well my sink takes precedence over them leaving from there. Brian comes back after we left, him and Josh are hungry at 10:30pm we stop at the best Italian beef place they order, we go home they eat and start the putting together of my sink.
Well the new sink is to deep, we measured the width but not length, so now we have to get the old one that is by the curb and reattach everything AGAIN! It is now 12:30am I go to bed as I have to work in the morning.
I wake up at 2:15 when I hear a LOUD explosion! and then another! I come down stairs and the boys tell me the light just went out, and they had just finished my sink! So no lights. I texted Comed no power and we all go up to bed. Brian has a Cpac machine as he has sleep apnea , so he can't really sleep well with no power to run the machine. I worry How I'll wake up with no alarm!

I bolt awake at 4AM and lights are on! so I go down shut everything off, set alarm to be up by 6:30 to get to work. I am dead tired at work all day, BUT my sink is working and I'm a happy camper!

What a cluster of a day that was! Life is never boring around here! So now I can finish the bathroom.

Good Lord! And I though my life was crazy. Why is it that what most people call "minor repairs" always seem to become a major pain in the tukus? I can certainly relate! emoticon

Busy busy! Crazy day! Wow! So glad there was no big catastrophe. I thought you were going to say you heard an explosion and found water everywhere. Glad that was not the case.
    Have a great day!

it's amazing how a "simple" fix turns in a mammoth task and takes twice, of not three, times as long.
Hope you can be dust free for Christmas Chris, you have done so much to your home this past year........surely time to put your feet up soon? eh?!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon
