Day 2: Defiance

Monday, December 02, 2019

It's one of my character traits. Admittedly one I've always been proud of, but also one that has gotten me into trouble more times than I can count.

“The world is increasingly designed to depress us.
Happiness isn’t very good for the economy.
If we were happy with what we had,
why would we need more?
How do you sell an anti-ageing moisturizer?
You make someone worry about ageing.
How do you get people to vote for a political party?
You make them worry about immigration.
How do you get them to buy insurance?
By making them worry about everything….
To be calm becomes a kind of revolutionary act.
To be happy with your own non-upgraded existence.
To be comfortable with our messy, human selves,
would not be good for business.”

Let's defy this crazy-making world!

I had an unsettling day at work today. You see, I'm working a job I don't really like and I feel I'm not at all qualified for. Most of the time I feel like I'm in way over my head. However, I get to work from home most of the time and I get to travel here and there. So until somebody realizes that I'm a dud, I decided to just hang on and improvise. :)

So in defiance of the work blahs I went to a yoga class tonight. I haven't done yoga in ages and it felt great. DH went with me - his very first yoga experience. He can now confirm that it is a lot harder than it looks. Much fun!

Namaste y'all. I've got this!

Being defiant is a sign of life. Thank God we still live in a society that allows us to be defiant. I'm just sorry there's so much we need to defy!

I hope your job feels more like a fit very soon. Working from home would be a wonderful perk, but not liking the work or not feeling confident is certainly a drawback. I'm glad you have a yoga-participating husband to cheer you up!

It’s a very good poem. Very helpful. I hope you get over the blahs soon. I’m sorry you don’t like the job. That’s rough. Of course, you know the situation and I don’t, but I have a sneaking feeling you may be pretty good at it.

    Namaste to you too!

I always blame it on the strong-willed child in me. Used to get me in trouble when I was a kid. We've learned to tone it down a little on the outside. As an adult I realize all that spunk makes us survivors, able to handle what life throws at us. A little defiance can be a good thing!
So true. Worry can make us do lots of things, not always in our best interest.
So nice your husband went with you to the yoga class.

I have a rebel inside me that does not like rules or authority. (smiling) But you'd never know it most of the time because I play nice in society's sandbox most of the time. Have a wonderful day.

There will be changes at my work soon, so I'll also have to do stuff I dislike. Hope things work out for you!
