Doctor Today

Monday, November 25, 2019

About 2 years ago I began seeing a specialized doctor, with the goal of trying to get my body losing weight, instead of always gaining or maintaining. Prior to the first visit, I had to have bloodwork done and an intense urine test.
At the first visit, he told me the results, made some recommendations and prescribed some hormones. After 3 months I had to have all of the testing done again, another office visit, some tweaking of the medications.
At the third visit, he changed his diagnosis. He scratched his head and told me all of the numbers and symptoms led him to PCOS, even though I was close to 70 years old. I was relieved because I believed I had PCOS for several years but no one would listen to me. As I looked back over the years, it all made sense. He changed my treatment plan based on this.
In addition to this, in June I had a cardioversion to shock my A fib heart back into rhythm.
Based on both of these, I have been feeling better than I have in years.
Today I see that specialist again. I am hoping for good news. I am hoping my lab results are all good or at least going in the right direction.
As many of you told me on yesterday's blog, I have to look beyond the scale for other ways to measure my progress. I can feel satisfied if I know my health is good, in spite of being very overweight.
AS this is Thanksgiving week here, I want to say today I am thankful for my beautiful daughter.
