Trials and Tribulations at Base Camp

Tuesday, November 19, 2019

The boiler installation was completed Thursday.  Hurrah.  Running hot water and central heating.  Just as Robert was finishing the job, The Worker [Friend?] and the courier turned up with the second hand kitchen so it was all a bit manic.

Next day The Worker [Friend?] set to on ripping the old kitchen out.

It has to be said, it was quite hard work getting him to do things in the order that was necessary.  But at least he was trying to stay focused on what I was saying.  Don't ever let anyone tell you that Project Management is easy!  In the midst of it all I managed to hurt my hand - more about that another day.  Plus problems with the gas meter leaving me without gas this evening.  Which means I'm back to no hot water or heating.  Or proper cooking facilities for that matter.

Credit where it's due - The Worker [Friend?] worked hard today getting as much installed as he could.  Plus took my word on what should be installed where. I'm becoming quite a whiz with the tape measure doncha know! Still quite a bit to do but that will have to wait a week now as he's left for the time being and I'm going home for a few days over the weekend to celebrate youngest son's birthday plus a meet up with The Brunch Bunch for Carol's birthday.  Made more awkward by strike action on the trains planned for Saturday.

Complications with the boiler leaking slightly, the gas meter problem, and some hiccoughs with neighbours - all snags for me to deal with tomorrow.  Sadly I won't get the long soak in the bath this evening that I was looking forward to.  Ah well, tomorrow evening, when I'll enjoy it even more hopefully.

Bright blessings
