Thursday, and making some changes

Thursday, November 14, 2019

Good Thursday morning, dear Friends. A little chilly here, but better than it has been. Great news, today should be the fast day of harvest, that is if they get started. Hubby went down there earlier and came right back home as to much frost yet, so he has left again, and hoping that it will work now, and they get it all done, and then it will take a day to get everything put away in the sheds. We keep the corn head, 2 wagons, the fuel wagon and I don't remember what else here in our machine shed, it seems to be different every year, but we always end up storing some things. Never the actual combine, as it is to tall to fit in our machine shed, as our was build when the machines weren't so big, so when BIL build his machine shed a few years ago, he made sure that it was a lot taller. I don't know how much bigger this equipment can get,

I really haven't really set anything in stone today yet, guess I should start thinking about it though. But I have make a couple decisions, I spent way to much time on here, and it has to stop. SP has become a social site, and that is not it's intention, it is what you make it. So to continue being here I am going to give up doing the daily zig saw puzzles, Mah Jong, and a lot of FB. Just to time consuming. And also doing a lot less here, and pay more attention to improving my goals. Sometimes you just have to put yourself first and foremost. So to keep SP I am willing to give up the other sites, as there is usually nothing on FB anyway, and I can do puzzles anytime as I have books of them. Got to put the priority in the correct order.

You all take care and have a GET day. Linda

Glad the harvest is going to be done for the year. Limiting your time on the computer is equally important as the goals you set for your self.

I find that you can be sucked into the internet vortex and it will consume your life. I've learned that there is a time and place for everything. I set my limits, as my time just seems to fly by. I have not once been bored since I retired. I am actually more busy now. Go figure.

Take care Linda, and do what you have to do. Limits, limits, limits are as important as your goals.

This is my main social media. I spend enough time here to write my blog, check out my friends, post on a team, and anything beyond that is a bonus. My no-brainer destress and downtime since I was sick has been Jane Austen Pride and Prejudice variations on my Kindle Unlimited and one game. This week I deleted the one game. It had built in time limitations so you couldn't play indefinitely without paying which I refuse to do, but I don't need it anymore so it's gone. I will probably never get over being a read-aholic; got that from both grandmothers who were voracious readers.

I'm a little more caught up since I took yesterday afternoon off. I actually have a few MISSIONS planned for the weekend.

This is my only social media, I belong to no other sites, deliberately. My number is in the phone book and I have lived in the same house for 35 years, they can find me...

When you decide it's time to Sparkle, set a time for however long you want to spend here and when it goes off, you are done!

I see the equipment that is so large and heavy it is no wonder they can't get in the field when they need.

I hope they got it done. I have cut back on FB myself. It can be a black hole for time.

I'm here about a hour a day... and yes it's a wonderful social spot now for me... I've learned a lot and have lost over 35 lbs. Most of us oldies here are either shut-ins or for some reason or other have very few friends in the real world and it makes for a happier day to be in contact with similar folks world-wide. I don't give a day to day accounting of my life here as many do, and find those who do must find it therapeutic. I just enjoy giving others something positive or funny to brighten their day as it did mine, and maybe that will include something I'm doing that day. Do what makes you happy, Linda emoticon

Linda, I am thinking through the same things - what do I want to keep and what do I want to give up. I do enjoy SparkPeople and for me it is truly more of a social site than anything else. But I also have been spending too much time here and need to find ways to interact with my friends without it taking so much time. I am trying to learn Norwegian and have been on Duolingo for over 2 years now. It's slow going - but I figure it's a good brain exercise for me!

I'm glad that the harvest is almost done!
