Keto or Bust!

My life has been a hot mess since my last blog post in May. My ex did not go down silently, and became a stalker who just wouldn't quit. I was getting texts from apps to circumvent my having blocked his numbers, e-mails, voicemails from random numbers. He was hounding our acquaintances for information, found me on LinkedIn and made a profile to message me there. He showed up at my house, left me a note under my windshield wiper while I was parked at the college. I lived in terror and fear for several months, afraid to leave my home for any reason except school or work. My health took a nose dive. It's hard to exercise, even a little walk, when you're worried your stalker might be down the road waiting for you to leave the safety of your house.
Things ARE better now. He seems to finally be leaving me alone. I've been dating a wonderful new young man for a few months now who is kind, caring, gentle and patient with me. He makes me laugh SO much. I've graduated from college and started a new job in my field. I bought a new car. Life goes on.
But the weight I've put on - 20lbs since this time last year - is not something I am willing to live with anymore. I still don't really have the motivation to get back into the gym right now and winter is really not a great time to decide to feast on rabbit foods so keto is my next try at shedding some of this beer belly.
Today is my first official day and I weighed in 170.5lbs this morning. I don't have any big expectations, but if I can lose 10lbs by Christmas I would be quite happy. I know protein always helped me stay full longer than other foods, and my culinary background should help me in creating meals that don't get too boring or repetitive. I'm hoping this works for me because I am at the end of my rope.
Another nice side effect of the keto diet is I can no longer drink beers or ciders, which are a large contributor to my excess weight gain. I need to drink less, and this will help.
I really want to do more snowshoeing this winter, so that's a goal that should help me as well, especially since there's already quite a bit of snow on the ground now and it's not even December yet! Wish me luck Sparkers, I need a reboot after this past year and I am really hoping that keto is the key to the next stage of things for me.
