My birthday was yesterday, but the birthday magic started Friday evening. I just had the feeling I was really going to enjoy this birthday. Three of us at work have birthdays in November - the 5th, the 10th and the 19th. Sometimes it is a little challenging sending around birthday cards to be signed without alerting the honoree. My friends did not let me down - they decorated my chair and brought in so many good things to eat - fresh fruit salad, Greek yogurt with granola, dark chocolate covered cranberries, pumpkin/oats/chocolate chip cookies, carrot and blueberry mini muffins, and a home-made pan cheesecake dessert.
Saturday night was great - My Mom, sister, son and his friend and I all went out for Tapas and wine at a new restaurant in the area. I invited them all so I expected to split the cost with my son. Instead my sister and son split the bill. We had so much fun with the food, wine and salsa music playing in the background. Sunday, my birthday, I got up early and went to the home improvement store to pick up some mulch for my new spruce trees. As I was loading the bags into my car, two men stopped to ask if I needed help. I finally relented and let the second man help me, thanking him the whole time for his kindness. On the way home I seemed to be hitting all the green lights. Around noon I got a call from my sister in England and we talked for almost two hours! Later, my son made me a lovely dinner with strip steak, broccoli and small potatoes.
And then today, we drive through a snow storm taking 45 minutes for a trip that normally takes 15 but got to work safely and found all the food and gifts awaiting me. My boss and his wife even gave me a little fishing rod with an attached fish to play with my cats - I have been practicing my casting.
Thank you Family, Friends and Co-Workers - I am truly blessed to have you all in my life. It was a magical birthday!
