Have you ever wondered why it is that after trying everything possible you know to do, DIY, plus every weight loss program you've come across and still don't shed the weight? How frustrating does that get?
Well, it turns out that there is, in fact, a very real connection between the number of toxins that get stored in your body and your weight. Toxins are much more prevalent than you'd think, and they can and do completely hold your metabolism hostage!
When there are years of unresolved toxicity, any toxins that the liver hasn't been able to clear out on an ongoing basis causes it to become overloaded. So, it initially stores the toxins in the fat cells of the liver itself, which degrades the health of the liver. When the liver fat cells get full, the toxins are stored in the fat cells anywhere in the body. (Unfortunately, people who have a higher BMI will store more toxins because they usually have more body fat.) Stored toxins have a significant impact on slowing down metabolism and contribute to weight gain.
“We are what we eat” may need to be updated to include we are what we drink, touch, absorb, and are exposed to. Chemical toxins bombard us from every direction. They’re in the water we drink and the food we eat. They’re in the cleansers we use, our beauty products, and even the air we breathe. They leak from our walls, our clothing, our floors, and our furniture. Herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, pharmaceutical residues, petroleum byproducts, pollutants, and so much more. In short, toxins literally surround us.
Obesity is a continually growing because of the western diets and lifestyles we follow. But what if this increase in weight gain can’t be blamed entirely on sugary or fatty foods coupled with lack of exercise? Turns out toxins are the culprit because they contribute to fat storage making it that much more difficult to lose those unwanted pounds.
Yes, our bodies are clever, well-organized machines prepared for a multitude of external and internal attacks from many sources like viruses, fungi, bacteria, and even modest amounts of poison. But when toxins enter our bodies, they are automatically sent to the liver to be broken down and flushed out. But when the liver is already overwhelmed endangering the heart and other organs our bodies revert to a backup plan and imprison the leftover toxins, locking them up in your fat cells. This lets the liver catch up and we can release the toxins slowly later to be cleaned or sent packing.
However, with the environmental and internal toxin levels continuously climbing, the liver is overwhelmed more and more frequently. The result is the increased toxins along with increased fat get stuffed into storage for getting rid of later. The outcome is the increase in fat cells to deal with the toxic load and people rapidly become obese.
Unfortunately, we're seeing this process starting at a very young age with obesity in children. and much younger than we thought. Some studies show that babies begin storing toxins in their fat cells even before they’re born. Infants exposed to toxins in the womb are born with more fat cells and have a higher risk of rapid weight gain which leads to overweight or obese children and adults.
We've all been exposed to high levels of toxins our entire lives. Take a minute to look around your home. How much synthetic material do you see? Take a look at your food in your pantry and fridge. How much of it is in cans, aluminum, and plastic? What about the ingredients? Are there chemicals you can barely pronounce, let alone know where they came from? As I've said before, we have been poisoning ourselves into obesity, little by little. We're caught in a trap!
The good news is, there is hope. You can reclaim your health and become the healthiest you, you can be.
Just think, every time you lose a pound of fat the healthy way, you've also literally detox yourself without ever having to do any kind of detoxing program or juice cleanses. You've used the power of your own body's filtration systems to get rid of them—and it will thank you for it.
