Turns out the electrician was here most of the day. There were quite a few sockets and switches he had to replace. Plus once he'd finished, he tested everything again. All included in his original quote. He also moved a light switch for me in the middle bedroom. It was on the wall behind where the door opened which seemed kind of crazy to me. I guess I could have rehung the door to open the opposite way but it would have looked odd. He charged me the vast sum of £20 for that little extra. Can't argue with that - reckon he's a keeper as trades people go.
One of the sockets he had to replace was where I plug my computer in. The computer desk back home was ancient. I bought it in New Hope Trust for a fiver about 12 years ago. By the time I came to move it was pretty bloody knackered so that was one thing I didn't worry about leaving behind. But it meant when I fetched up here, I was using a workmate as a computer desk. Not ideal. And yes - that is tennis on the computer screen. Andy Murray winning his first tournament in over two years to be precise. Why would you imagine it could possibly be anything else?
The Worker [Friend?] found a computer desk in a charity shop for £15 so I bought that. Didn't like the silver base but a lick of black metal paint sorted that out.
Figured as I had to unplug and pull things out of the way for The Electrician today, I might as well reorganise. After all, it is The Hub from which I'm working my magic.
