November 7, 2019 URGENT NEEDS

Many times when we are writing our vision and dreams for our lives, we think about what we want. Some who teach about setting goals even tell us to think about what we want in life and go for it. However, our vision and dreams should not be for selfish reasons. God wants us to make plans for our lives that will help others. It is hard to help others when we stay in our own little world. God clearly tells us we are unproductive when we aren’t meeting the urgent needs of others. Our vision and dreams for our lives should be to help others using the talents and skills God has blessed us with.

Titus 3:14 “Our people must learn to do good by meeting the urgent needs of others; then they will not be unproductive.” (NLT)

1. Write about someone you know in need.
2. List what urgent needs they have.
3. Ask God to show you how to help.
4. Seek out opportunities to help others every day.

Dear Lord, we pray You will open our eyes to see the urgent needs of others. Help us to remember to make it our goal in life to seek out opportunities to help those in need. We want our vision and dreams to be about what we can do to meet the urgent needs of others. We want to take the focus off what we can get from this life and instead focus on what we can give. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

We are to do good to all people just as Jesus did. It is God’s purpose for our lives.

1 Thessalonians 5:15 “See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people.” (NLT)

When we search for peace and strive to do God’s will, He will give us opportunities to do good.

Psalm 34:14 “Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it.” (NLT)

If we want to be productive in life, we need to help others in need.

Ephesians 4:28b “use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need.” (NLT)
