November 4, 2019 BLURRED VISION

When we are trying to see something but have something in our eye, our vision gets a little blurry. However, when that object is removed, we can see clearly again. Just like with our eyes, when something blocks our vision of what we want to do in life, we get off focus. Things and people cloud our vision of what we are supposed to be doing and we get off-track. God wants us to remember we can go to Him to keep our focus clear. In fact, daily time with Him in His word, praying and worshiping Him will help us keep our vision clear of what He wants us to do.

Philippians 3:15-16 “So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it.” (MSG)

1. Write what distracts you from doing God’s will.
2. List reasons your vision for God’s plan is not working out.
3. Go to God and ask Him to clear your vision so you can focus only on Him.
4. Decide to stop following this world and choose to only follow Jesus.

Dear Lord, sometimes our eyes get blurred by the things of this world. We know distractions come in all packages. Help us to stop focusing on the wrong things that are keeping us from doing Your will. We want clear vision on what we need to do for You in our lives. Help us to stay focused on You, we pray. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

We are to encourage others to do God’s will and not cause them to get off-track.

1 Corinthians 7:35b “I want you to do whatever will help you serve the Lord best, with as few distractions as possible.” (NLT)

When we focus on what really matters, we will not get distracted by this world.

Philippians 1:10 “For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return.” (NLT)

When we get distracted and distressed, God can help us get back on track to do His will.

Psalm 31:9 “Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am in distress. Tears blur my eyes. My body and soul are withering away.” (NLT)
