I've been slowing completing and working on paring down my to-do list. It feels great!
Yesterday was a very wet and cold day, so I decided to do something artsy.
I've been buying a "how to" magazine for Fimo clay. The magazine includes a piece of clay in a different colour each week, instructions, and one other bit that can be used to make something (jewellery pieces, tools, etc). I just realized that I've been accumulating these kits for over a year now (60 weeks!). I've spent weeks and weeks watching tutorials on youtube. I've actually pulled out the clay and played with it, mixing some colours, and even attempted to start something, but never got passed making a ball for a head.
Yesterday felt like the perfect time to try again.
First attempt:
After I took the picture, I realized two things:
1. Fimo clay gets very dirty, very easily (all the dirt is residue from the work surface).
2. I really need to get better glasses for close-up work (I completely did not see that mess!)
So, this morning, after I had my coffee, I tried to clean off the bits before I popped it into the oven, but all I did was make pock marks all over the piece, so I carefully took it apart, squished it up and started over.
Second attempt:
I'm pleased with this piece! I am going to make another two today, and will bake them all later.
YAY!!
Oh, I used the following tutorial to help me make this piece - I want to give credit to the artist who showed me the way!
