October 31, 2019 GOD’S THOUGHTS ARE GREATER

No matter how hard we try, on our own, we are not going to have great and positive thoughts all the time. We need God. We need His Holy Spirit to help guide our thoughts so they are good and pleasing to God. We will never think like God thinks because His thoughts and His ways are far greater than ours. However, we can pray. We can read His word. We can allow the Holy Spirit to guide our thinking so we are living our best life for God because we are thinking about Him and living out the purpose He has for us.

SCRIPTURE:
Isaiah 55:8-9 “’My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,’ says the Lord. ‘And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.’” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write what you think about regularly.
2. List the ways you allow the Holy Spirit to help you think.
3. Go to God right now and pray for better thoughts.
4. Remember God can help you train yourself to think better.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we know our thoughts are nothing to compared to Yours. Your ways and Your thoughts are far greater than we can ever imagine. We need Your help to have better thoughts. We need help not just daily but every minute. Things happen. Someone says something harsh. We have a bad day. We get emotional. Help us, we pray. Allow Your Holy Spirit to guide our thoughts all through the day so they are good and pleasing to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
With the power of God, we can better know Him and allow Him to work within us changing our thoughts to be pleasing to Him.

Ephesians 3:20 “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” (NLT)

We will never know what God is thinking but we can better know Him by getting into His word and thinking about His word all day long.

1 Corinthians 2:16 “For, ‘Who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?’ But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.” (NLT)

If we want good thoughts, we need to allow God’s Holy Spirit to renew our thoughts and attitudes throughout each day.

FOCUS:
Ephesians 4:23-24 “Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.” (NLT)
