October 30, 2019 FAITHFUL MINDS
To have hope in something or someone means we are waiting on what we desire to happen in anticipation. To have faith means we believe and trust in a person or thing. We put our hope in the people and the things we have faith in. We all have some type of hope and faith in our minds. However, what or who we have hope or faith in is different. When we have hope or faith in anything other than God, we will be disappointed. When we place our hope and faith in God and remind ourselves of this daily, we will have a more peaceful and happier life.
1 Peter 1:5 “And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.” (NLT)
1. Write what you think about faith.
2. List the things you know about hope.
3. Know God’s word can help you grow in faith and hope.
4. Fill your mind with God’s word and seek to do His will.
Dear Lord, we want to have faith and hope in You. We know You are the true source to eternal life. We know You have a perfect plan for us. Help us to fill our minds with Your word and with confident hope that You will help us in all things. Remind us to be faithful in all we as we go the direction You want us to go and do Your will. We want to have faith and hope in You and point others to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
We are to remember those who have had faith in the past and how God worked through them.
Hebrews 13:7 “Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith.” (NLT)
Psalm 62:5 “Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.” (NLT)
Romans 15:13 “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” (NLT)
We should fear God and faithfully serve Him. That comes with filling our minds with faith and hope in Him.
1 Samuel 12:24 “But be sure to fear the Lord and faithfully serve him. Think of all the wonderful things he has done for you.” (NLT)
