Sick Days, Oh Canada & Missed Cruises
Monday, October 28, 2019
At the beginning of the month we went on a New England/Canada Cruise. We went to Boston, Portland, St. John, New Brunswick & Halifax, Nova Scotia. For me it was terribly cold in Canada! Only low 40s which I know is not cold for all of those lovely folks, but for me..... Brrr! I have to say for the most part, Canadians are as friendly & nice as I've always heard. For the most part..... I did meet one snobby, actually kinda mean, woman running a shop who was not friendly, came off as very judgmental and a sort of know it all. But, that only reminded me that we are all human and cannot be generalized no matter where we live! We went to NYC and hit some hot spots then got on the ship. It was a different trip for us since we usually go to the Caribbean, but it was interesting and lovely!
After coming home of course I had to play make up with work and was doing what I could to get back into my workout and eating schedules. I realized I could not continue with the one challenge I was doing. I just could not focus on anything to do with SP and then also do all I needed to do to sustain life, job and continued education!
Then I started feeling poorly. Ended up at an emergency doc in the box on Saturday, Oct. 18. After alot of blood draws and urinary tests they called Monday all happy to tell me my tests were clear! I broke down in tears and said but, I'm sick! They directed me to go directly to an Emergency Room. I didn't want to go to our local one because I feel certain I'd be dead by now if I did. so, I went to the ER where my endocrinologist and kidney specialist are located. They ran tons of more blood tests, more urine tests, a flu screening and a strep screeing and all were clear! The doc listened and heard a slight rattle in my left lower lung and so I was diagnosed with pnemonia.
I'm a week out from the diagnosis and am feeling better, but not my best yet.
They wanted me to stay, but gave me the option to come home as long as I followed up with my PCP. I did and she agreed with the pneumonia. The best thing is no more fever or chills. I have not been coughing, so that is weird. But, that could still come.
My PCP said I absolutely could not go on our cruise to Bermuda which is where I should be right now! We were supposed to leave on Oct. 26. Oh well.
I'm getting stronger every day and am so grateful because it could be alot worse than it is! I could be in the hospital and I'm not. I could feel alot worse than I do and I don't. I could have double pneumonia and I only have 1 little rattle in 1 part of my left lung! I'm no longer feverish so that is all good!
so, I wouldn't say I'm happy, but I'm not miserable. I just don't feel all that great and am sad I had to stay home. But, it is all for the best. Now, the sad thing is that Hubby sounds like he is barking up his lungs! Alas!
Hope all of you are doing better than I!

Nothing beats a haunted moonlit night on All Hallows Eve.... And on this fatal night, at this witching time, the starless sky laments black and unmoving. Fun Fact: The inspiration for "Lean on Me" was Bill Withers' childhood in the coal mining town of Slab Fork, West Virginia. He wrote the song after moving to Los Angeles and longing for the tight-knit community of his hometown.
