Making Progress!

Friday, October 25, 2019

I was surprised at how long it has been since I blogged! I'm making slow, steady, painful progress. The doctor wasn't kidding when he stressed how painful this is. The good part is that although I have pain (okay, sometimes throbbing pain) it is nothing like it was before the surgery. It really makes me wonder how I could stand it before!

I'm beginning to be more active too. I've been sidelined for so long this time that getting lots of activity is exhausting. Sometimes, I am sleeping 8-10 hours per night and then I'll have several very restless nights per week. I figure the nights when I sleep a lot are my healing nights. I haven't slept like that since, well I can't even remember when. It has been that long!

I have difficulty doing a lot of fine motor things and can't lift much over one pound. Still, that is 100% more than I could do 10 months ago. I go back to the doctor at the beginning of November. We'll see what he says. I'm still having trouble bending my wrist forward. It is 20 degrees less than the bend on my left wrist.

I've been working on a craft project for my SIL. She asked me to fix a Christmas decoration. I did about and hour and a half of work on it (tiny little painting on parts of it). My PT told me that it was wayyyy too much, due to irritating the little joints below my thumb. She said to do about a third of what I did on Tuesday. Who knew? I could really feel it later!

Glad you're making progress and I feel the same way about the 8 - 10 hour sleep nights. That's essentially where my body has been hanging out for the past 2 years. And 12+ hours has been occurring too!

Yeah. An hour and a half? Too much. We live and learn.

I'm happy to hear that you're sleeping and the pain is diminished. WooHoo!
