Insulin Resistance

So, this morning I decided to have an everything bagel with cream cheese, cucumber, tomato and red onion slices with coffee for breakfast. I don't usually do this because of all the carbs and calories. But I went for it this morning. It was so delicious!!! If I had lox to add, I would be in heaven!

However, now I know that I must be insulin resistant (I'm not diabetic but have been getting close to pre-diabetic off and on for years) because my heart was racing for a while after eating this. Oh well, it's confirmation that I need to avoid such foods!! Mind you, I hardly ever ever ever eat bagels anymore.

Is there anyone out there that is low-carb, keto, paleo, etc... that loves bagels? I can quit it for good, but I wonder what the alternative would be, should I have another craving? I guess pizza is another vice. I don't really like cauliflower crust though, maybe it's all in the flour substitute for me, instead of white flour. I'm open for suggestions :)

    yeah, I figure I will back off from bagels and pizza indefinitely and only occasionally eat them. Bagels especially - I only eat those maybe once or twice a year. Pizza... well... haha. I pass up pancakes, waffles, scones, muffins, etc etc all the time.

    I'm diabetic and never experienced that. I've done the low carb thing but not recently. Hope you find you some good alternatives.
