Tuesday and going to keep busy.

Tuesday, October 22, 2019

Well, at least the emoticon is shiny but it was only emoticon 34 while I did chores this morning, and it emoticon rained again over night, and it is so windy again today. Just a typical Iowa Fall day. Of course with the rain hubby can't be in the field helping brother with harvest. It might be a couple days yet. We have been invited to sons this weekend for his annual Fall Party, sort of an appreciation party for his employees, neighbors, and friends. but I think we will pass as harvest is the priority. Sheryl's (DIL) dad also said that if Larry want to stay home to harvest that I could ride along with him, but he want to leave on Friday Morning and no return until Sunday afternoon, and I really done feel comfortable being away from home that long while the guys are in the field. That would mean that he would have to do the chores every morning, fix his own lunch pail, and fix his own supper, and this is a man that can zap a hot dog, or warm up pizza in the toaster oven, but that really is about it. I have left him alone before but since he was in that coma, and having to learn to feed himself and walk again, he just doesn't handle things like he use to, and I am not comfortable putting extra situations on him. This is something that I haven't discuss much with anyone, and still not comfortable even here talking about it. But I see it in our daily life that there is differences in his and my behavior.

My MISSIONS for today is to clean our bathroom and bedroom. but that will be later, as it is almost dinner,(Lunch) time and then Larry's nap time, and my Me Time while my soap is on, so it will have to be mid afternoon. And Hubby loves his placement of his elliptical now, says he doesn't feel like I was pushing him our the back door. And Kinney and Shorty seem to have discovered a new runway, and Kinney got in trouble last night, as he decided to try and dig up one of my house plants. So this morning finished cleaning up his mess and added stones to the top of the dirt and now he wont dig, HOPEFULLY. That is one thing with Shorty he doesn't jump up on things, so the plants are safe with him, as with his back legs so deformed it is impossible for him to leap. At least with the sun out. maybe Merlin can come in for his afternoon nap. That will make his day.

Well, better Shake a Leg, and get something lined up for hubby's dinner. Linda

Maybe sprinkling a bit of fine ground pepper on the dirt might keep him from digging up your plants. Worked for me... emoticon emoticon

I would be a nervous nelly if I encountered what Larry and you went through last year. It is amazing that the both of you are doing as well as you are. If he's not Betty Crocker in the kitchen I think I wouldn't leave him either. I know my hubby is no cook, other than warming things up. Since I retired I have taught him some basics and he does better now. But main meals are still my responsibility and if I wasn't here he'd go out to a restaurant.

Do what you feel right is right for your family. It's cold, rainy and just plain gloomy here. This time of year even though I like it, kinda depresses me. I'm not looking forward to winter at all.

I am happy to hear that you have sunshine. That means it might come our way soon. We got home last night from our week of traveling and visiting and our whole yard is covered with leaves - so I guess it was pretty darn windy here too!

I would probably make the same choice about visiting without my husband. It can't be easy being out in the fields all day!

I would share the same concerns as you! My DH is able to boil water, pour cereal, and make tuna salad. He'd survive, but he wouldn't be happy about it. Given Larry's medical history, that would be uppermost in my mind.

HUGS and hope you do have a terrific Tuesday.

Have a great afternoon. We are going back into the 90's this week. However nights are dipping into the 50's and 60's.

I understand you not wanting to leave Larry "alone". The medical part. Trust me, if he is hungry enough, cereal and toast , cheese is always an option.

I would be worrying the whole time about if he fell or something...

I think it’s pretty amazing that you and Larry came out of that horrible experience as well as you did. I’d worry about him too. When we got married, my husband didn’t even know how to heat up a can of soup, and his kitchen skills have only marginally improved. I’m lying low today. I’ve read some short stories, slept for two hours, and bought soup and two dinners for tonight at Boston Market. I already have a late afternoon doctor appointment tomorrow; good timing.
