A Month of Mondays

Monday, October 21, 2019

Today when I got to school, there was a serious traffic back up. Luckily, I come into campus on the far end, so I wasn't immediately affected. But I could see all kinds of lights and could tell there had been some type of traffic accident in front of our main entrance. I remember thinking...Oh gosh, I hope it isn't serious.

Well, it was serious, the student parking lot was totally shut down and eventually the main road so that a helicopter could land and take the accident victim to the hospital. In fact, it was one of the most horrific accidents that I have ever seen. It did not involve any of our students but it did involve a 20-year-old kid who first responders now tell me will be ok. However, at the time, I have to say that we were all quite shaken up.

As my kids came into class, I had them all contact their families to let them know that they were ok. I even called my daughter because my car was the same color as the car under the tractor trailer. I think it put us all a little more at ease to touch base with our families after witnessing that horrific scene.

But the Monday did not stop there. About 1/2 hour before lunch, the city water main broke. Uhmmm....everyone has to go to the bathroom at lunch! The entire college campus - except for one building was totally without water.

Now, top this off with the fact that my formal observation was last period after such a grueling day.

Can you say stress??? However, the stress of the rest of the day was definitely put into perspective with the events of the morning.

I must say....take a minute to hug your family. That scene this morning definitely reminded me of how your life can change in just a moment.

Tragic for your students to see . Your reminder to hug our family every day is good. Great that you had students contact their families. Hope your Tuesday is calm and wonderful!

OH my heavens! First and foremost, I am glad you are all right. And glad to know that the young adult involved will be all right, too. That would for sure shake me to the core.

Sure didn't need the added stress of the water issue and THEN a formal observation!

PHEW Hope you can put your feet up a little after work.
