October 21, 2019 STRESS AWAY

It’s no wonder we are stressed in this world. We are overwhelmed with work, taking care of our homes, daily activities, families, social media, health issues, money woes, etc. The list goes on and on. There are two things to remember about stress. First, it’s all of this world. Second, it’s all in our minds. God tells us where we can find peace and joy. When we aren’t looking toward Him, then the stress begins. The more we make our lives busy without taking time to be still and spend time with God, the more stressed we will be. The more we focus on the world instead of God, the more stressed we will be.

Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” (NLT)

1. Write what you are stressed about.
2. List the ways you deal with that stress.
3. Know God can relieve your stress.
4. Focus on Him and fill your mind with His word.

Dear Lord, we are so sorry we focus on this world and our lives more than we focus on You. Please forgive us. We want to be less stressed in life and focus on Your word. We know You tell us when we are still and with You, we will have peace. We know You tell us we can find joy in Your word. We know You tell us when we obey You, we will not experience stress. Help us to stay focused on You and not the busyness of this world. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

When we are stressed, we can find rest and joy in God’s word.

Psalm 119:143 “As pressure and stress bear down on me, I find joy in your commands.” (NLT)

Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” (NLT)

Job 22:21 “Obey God and be at peace with Him; this is the way to happiness.” (NCV)

When take time to be alone with God and pray, we will have peace.

Matthew 6:6 “But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.” (NLT)
