Best News I've Had In Awhile About Work
Friday, October 18, 2019
September 5 we got the word the sheriff's dept was going to take over 911. Since then my mood has been up/down daily. It was voted on last Friday that the take over would take place. Today we got word that we will be allowed to remain in our union. That gives us an advantage that we won't take a $5 to $7 hr cut in pay. We also aren't fired/laid off and have to reapply. We retain our seniority. There will be changes and more work but the good thing is the 12 of us at 911 are going to keep our jobs and not go find work elsewhere. All but one of us have been looking for work elsewhere because we decided if we were going to take that cut in pay might as well start elsewhere. I figured at the rate they had proposed I could go work in fast food. My great niece makes what they were proposing to give us. The thing is our pay doesn't even come out of the general fund or the sheriff's budget. We have a separate fund from taxes that the voters approved the tax to operate 911.
It has been a fight daily to keep up with my exercise and eating plan. Wake and decide not to and then I have had to do a lot of talking to myself to get going. Kept telling myself I was not letting their antics destroy everything I've worked for. Have had a lot of stress headaches and hopefully they'll start letting up. I've noticed my DVD viewing had even changed. Years ago I constantly watched disaster movies and I had started that again. Watch movies that practically destroys mankind and they start again with fresh prospective. It got me thru the worst of the uncertainty. I am proud of myself that I kept up with my plan instead of giving up. Now I can continue moving forward, not having to start all over again.
