Kitchen is done, still have the bathroom to complete. Some wall touch up, prime it and paint.
also need a new facet and pea trap as there is a small leak now and then
It have been a very expensive year for house repairs. New water heater in January, that was fun with no hot water for 3 days in January!
Then the Kitchen remodel which took about 3 months from start to finish, but it is done and I love it !
Then my whole heart monitor, Defibrillator issue, it has healed well and thankfully no issues.
Now the furnace! Can I catch a break here?!?!
I had a friend who's husband was a furnace guy, I could leave the back door unlocked and he'd come in to do his thing and send me the bill. The last time he was here he said a part would eventually have to be replaced. He died 3 months later. I didn't have anyone out the next year as there was no real issue. the next year it had a hickup in Jan, the next day it was fine. This year it wouldn't turn on. My mom was using my guy and this year she found another guy she was happy with. So I called him and he was here this past Tuesday.
Well the part that needed to be replaced, now does and the heat ex-changer has a crack which could cause carbon monoxide to leak into the house. so to repair it would have been about 1,000 dollars on a 22 year old furnace, or get a new one for 2,300. No brainer a new furnace we will get. Now he could have gotten it installed this Sat but it would have costed me more for a Sat delivery and install. With my work schedule this week and his work load Tuesday this coming week it was.
Now the weather never got below freezing on nay given night so far, but high 30's and 40's is still cold with NO heat! LOL. Thank GOD the oven warms things up some when I let it run for about 1.5-2 hours with the door open.
It certainly makes one thankful for central heat, when you don't have it. Makes you appreciate what our ancestors went through without central heat and only a cast iron stove for heat and cooking.
Looking forward to Tuesday!
