Highlight -
I love blogs that make me think.
~INDYGIRL's blog - The STRUGGLE is REAL asked a lot of questions and provided some insight.

The Insight -
I need to approach my health like it is my career, my sole purpose in life, to get out of my body that I feel is holding me back from truly living life.

The Questions -
So what will YOU do?
- Put more focus on my goals and address what needs to change.
What obstacles are in YOUR life?
- I think my biggest obstacle is myself and nighttime gnawing. I need to apply myself more.
What resources do you have?
- Sparkpeople, UCONN Study, Internet, Exercise Videos
How can you overcome those obstacles with your resources?
- Set achievable goals. For exercise, use videos.
What is your next step?
- Focus more, like it is my job. Set up guidelines and a schedule. Then follow through.

Grateful -
For Perseverance
For Inspiration
For blogs that make me think.

"I need to approach my health like it is my career, my sole purpose in life."
This really resonated for me, because I was saying almost the same thing to myself today! An hour a day of exercise is not dealing with my physical challenges. I need to do two hours. That may sound a bit over the top but a lot of that is just stretching really. And you're right. Ever since I retired, my career now is staying fit and healthy. If that takes two hours a day, well, it's just a little part-time job isn't it, really!

    Thank you for posting this.

Reflection is powerful, useful. You clearly understand, now get outta your head and let your knowing and doing hang out together. Okay, sorry...never that easy yet we clearly need to get outta our own way and not make it one bit harder. One choice at a time, working on evening eating. Trying the shutting down the kitchen for the day deal after making a cup of bedtime tea. Better than average success...truly a work in progress.

What a great blog: yes, it's like a career and requires comparable focus. Starting, as Beth says, with the mental stuff.

Focus on yourself. Yes, I think we all need to do that. I’ve always found it easier to focus on other people’s needs rather than mine.

Nighttime eating is one of my challenges, too. Found some great ideas on SP.
Always having my healthy portion controlled snacks ready. Putting troublesome foods in one kitchen cabinet. Adding a post it note to that cabinet listing my healthy alternatives. Asking myself what I want? Salty, sweet or crunchy. Beth’s idea of brushing my teeth. Taking fiber.

Yes, the STRUGGLE is REAL. It takes REAL work. You have a wonderful plan to get you there.

I love your insight! It's crazy that the simple truth is you just have to do it. All the things you know are best for your health... just do it!! Simple and oh so difficult all at the same time. I just wanted to stop in and say I too am working to change my body into one that serves me and allows me to live my best life.
