Double Down

Haven't finished Day 20 Challenge as far as I am concerned, although I did get far more than 10 minutes of exercise this morning. I tried to run the Double Down 5k. After 2 run intervals I decided to walk it and that's what I did. (Pulled a glute muscle. Would you believe I pulled the glute muscle doing PT for my back?!!) I didn't finish last, but I did finish. It was our coolest day so far this season, 68 degrees when we started. Just beautiful! We ran between 2 lakes and over a bridge. The medal shows an alligator under the bridge and there could have been one today, but I didn't see one. Did see lots of birds and fast runners, all looking healthy and beautiful.

So it is time for me to go walk the dog so both Casey and I can complete our challenge day 20. Didn't weigh this morning but I didn't feel bloated or too big during the race, although I indulged in some post race food and will need to be careful with eating the rest of the day. I can do it!

If I had known I would have to walk I probably would not have signed up for the DD5k, but I'm glad I did it.

You ever go forward with something just because you planned to do it?

    Oh, those glute muscles can be really painful when provoked!!! So sorry, but you made the right decision. And as for alligator under the bridge . . . I am absolutely weak kneed at even the thought!!

    I probably too often have done something because I planned to do it . . . and particularly if somebody else was counting on me doing it. Yes, it's a mind-set that's all too familiar!! But YOU were wise enough to modify!!

    Sorry to hear you've pulled a glute muscle. Glad you took care of yourself by not pushing to run and walked the event instead.

    You ever go forward with something just because you planned to do it? Yes! I didn't realize it at the time; but, I'd signed up to run an event and the pelvic injury had made itself evident 2 weeks before. I walked a 5k on a fractured pelvis! Good Lord!!! I took it easy. Had I realized the pelvis was fractured there's no way I would have gone forward just because I'd planned to do it. I'm fortunate I didn't injure myself further.

    AND HECK - you finished...you did not quit. Proud of you.

    Yep - I've gone forward with things I planned on even when I didn't want to. In the end I'm always glad I did; I made the best of it and generally it results in a new adventure for me.

    I'll see your 68* F and raise you to 31* here this morning! The Market to Market relay started in Omaha at 5:30... BRRRRR! And I've done both with "going forward" just because I planned it, and also "wisely refraining" when the body just said "no".

    So very sorry about your injury :-( How very frustrating :-( Hope it heals quickly and you are good to go for your next race. Cool bling although running anywhere there are alligators would make me nervous!!
    You are very committed, nothing wrong with that. I usually do what I plan to do although sometimes conditions and my body thwart it. I try not to sweat the small stuff. I missed two of my favorite festivals this short summer because of my foot surgery, but I am happy to be able to wear all my shoes again comfortably, especially winter boots.
