October 11, 2019 THINK ABOUT WHAT IS RIGHT
Most of us like rewards. We like prizes and free gifts. In fact, many of us will stand in long lines for something free. There are numerous references in God’s word about His promises, His rewards and His blessings. And they are all free! One of His promises is about doing right. If we do right, we will have all we need. Right doing comes from right thinking. When we think about what is right and rely on God’s Holy Spirit, we will know what to do that is right as well. Then many blessings will follow.
Isaiah 34:15-16 “A person who does what is right and speaks what is right, who refuses to take money unfairly, who refuses to take money to hurt others, who does not listen to plans of murder, who refuses to think about evil—this is the kind of person who will be safe. He will be protected as he would be in a high, walled city. He will always have bread, and he will not run out of water.” (NCV)
1. Write what you like that is free.
2. List prizes or rewards you have received.
3. Know there is no prize greater than what God has for you.
4. Focus on what is right and live to do what is right in obedience to God.
Dear Lord, we want to experience right living. We want our thinking to be in line with Your will. We want to experience the blessings You have promised as we think about what is right and we do it. We know when our minds and hearts are focused on what is right, then we will better resist temptation. Help us, we pray, to fix our minds on what is right…to fix our minds on You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
If we want a right heart for God, we need to make sure we have right thinking.
Psalm 32:11 “Good people, rejoice and be happy in the Lord. Sing all you whose hearts are right.” (NCV)
God tells us to draw close to Him and think carefully about what is right.
1 Corinthians 15:34 “Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all.” (NLT)
God wants us to fix our thoughts on Him and what is right.
Philippians 4:8a “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is…right” (NLT)
