It’s so windy where I live that the electric company has said they may turn off power to avoid sparking wildfires.
I’ve been trying to fit in a short walk on my lunch break to make sure I make my exercise commitment, but I looked outside today and wasn’t sure I wanted to go out. Dust and leaves were flying.
I thought to myself, I’ll just walk across the parking lot and see how bad it is. Yep, it was windy! But it seemed manageable, so I thought, I’ll just walk to the corner. And once I got to that corner, it seemed natural to walk as far as the next corner – until eventually I had walked around the block. And I work in an industrial area, so it’s a big block – about 1.3 miles.
The whole way north, the wind was blowing dust and leaves in my face, so I walked with my eyes almost shut. On the way south, the wind blew my hair over my eyes so I still couldn’t really see.
But I made it, none the worse for wear (except for the tangles in my hair).
