Is today your present?

Wednesday, October 09, 2019

Have you truly ever thought about this saying? I have extensively. Sometimes we look so forward to the future or reminisce about our past so much we truly miss today.

Our society is such a hurried one. I'm always reminded of the saying "Give my patience Lord, but hurry." Are you like that? Can you taste something so bad that you want it to be here so quickly that you may miss everything that led up to it? I have time and time again.

As I have gotten older (can that really happen? emoticon ) I have learned to appreciate every little second of my day. I no longer take for granted the time I spend with my family, the laughter shared or the tears we cry. It still means we are together in one-way, shape or form.

Don't get me wrong, I like to look forward to events as well as the next person, but it's not all about what lies ahead in my future anymore but about the present day I am having because the good Lord blessed me with this day so I need to make the best of it, right?

So is today your present as well or are you thinking so much about future events you are missing today completely?

Leave Yesterday Alone, (IT’S GONE)©

For all the things I know now
of all the thing you’ve drawn,
I need to let go, I know I do
Leave Yesterday Alone,
(IT’S GONE).

I can never change what used to be
Today’s a brand new dawn,
I need to let go, I know I will
Leave Yesterday Alone,
(IT’S GONE).

If you were meant to be in my life
I would not have been your pawn,
I need to let go, you weren’t meant to be
Leave Yesterday Alone,
(IT’S GONE).

I count my blessings, one by one
With each day Lord that you’ve drawn,
As I let go, your will be done
Leaving Yesterday Alone,
(IT’S GONE).
