October 7, 2019 GRATEFUL MINDS

A lot can be said about gratitude. Great things happen to us and others when we practice gratitude. If we want better thoughts and a more positive mindset in life, we need to practice gratitude. Looking at any situation in life with gratitude will help us to remember what we do have to be thankful for. God wants us to be grateful for the people in our lives, the opportunities and, yes, even the hard times.

SCRIPTURE:
1 Thessalonian 5:18 “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write how you show gratitude to God.
2. List the things and people you are grateful for.
3. Know God wants you to be thankful in all circumstances.
4. Decide today to change your mind to a grateful one.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we are so grateful for today. We are so grateful for the blessings You have in store for us. We are so grateful for the people in our lives who we can show Your love to and share Your word with. Help us to remember to be thankful in all situations. Remind us daily to allow Your message dwell in us so we remember all the great things You have done and continue to do. We want give thanks for You and others…always…in all things. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
When we get into God’s word, our gratitude will grow.

Colossians 3:16 “Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.” (NIV)

When we give thanks to God, our gratitude will grow.

1 Chronicles 16:34 “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.” (NLT)

When we stop worrying, start recognizing God’s blessings, and give thanks for the people in our lives, our gratitude will grow.

FOCUS:
Philippians 1:3 “Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God.” (NLT)
