In April, we had dinner with our son, daughter and DIL. I mentioned it might be an idea to spend our early October 40th wedding anniversary in Ishigakijima, our favorite holiday place.
DH: Okinawa is not a great idea in typhoon season!
Son and DIL gave each other funny looks.
DIL: What date is it?
Me: 6 October.
DIL: Well, actually we’re expecting a baby on 4 October.
Twelve years ago after DH had his first stroke and was diagnosed with diabetes, a good friend who works in the medical field but who is a little lacking in tact, said, “You’ll have to feed him properly or he won’t get to see his grandchildren.” I was alarmed, but now I wouldn’t give it a second thought. I’ve got a handle on the diet thing, touch wood, and our grandson will soon appear. On top of that, we’re older than my two great-grandmothers were when I was born!
Five years ago, I went to England and met my oldest friend going back to schooldays. They’d recently had their 40th and DH had recently been in the ICU several times. I thought, “I can’t see us making it to our 40th.” But here we are and he’s in great condition!
So......building up to two celebrations around the end of the week!
