I’ve been walking for 7 weeks now … thank you, thank you OverWorkedJanet. Through her … encouragement … I got up and off the couch. These walks are s-l-o-w paced, no marathon training for me. I’m moving into 50-minute sessions tomorrow.
Once again, my insurance offered free the Naturally Slim (NS) program to those who applied and were accepted.
I did the program once before … I say I DID it before … but not for real and not for long.
I didn’t understand alllll that the program offered nor how long it actually was available to me … and it sounded so … simple and hokey.
So, with NS, along with reading … Intuitive Eating (IE) by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch … it’s been a topsy turvy kinda week. I am reading IE very s-l-o-w-l-y … it’s not a novel … it’s self-help and that takes time. Thank you WaterMellen … please, please continue to share your journey!!!
Week 1 … eat ONLY when physically hungry, s-l-o-w-l-y chewing and consciously savoring SMALL bites putting your fork down between bites.
Eat only one item at a time and eat what you like the best on your plate first. Once you have satisfied your taste … move to your second favorite item on your plate not returning to the first … and so on.
The process of eating is to satisfy your taste and your fullness … and that only happens through eating slowly, consciously savoring each small bite.
Eat for 10 minutes then wait 5 minutes to see if you are still hungry then eat an additional 10+ minutes or what’s needed to … STOP eating when you are comfortable NOT stuffed.
It’s suggested to eat protein at each meal … along with anything you want. ANYTHING.
It’s not WHAT you eat, it’s WHEN and HOW.
So … two questions.
1) What does true physical hunger feel like to YOU??? What are your … signs of hunger???
2) What would you eat if you allowed yourself to eat ANYTHING you wanted … as long as you ate it when physically hungry and STOP when physically comfortable???
