I took two mini vacations with friends. First trip was to Cape Meares on the Oregon coast near Tillamook. I met my old friends from Portland, and we shared a cabin together. We hiked during the daylight hours, and played music or games in the evening.
Here are a few photos of hikes we took.
I was home only for one day before leaving for my next adventure. I joined a group of my hiking friends for a trip to Indian Heaven wilderness in Washington state. I had never visited this beautiful wilderness destinations. I loved the hiking and spending time with friends.
En route to Washington we stopped at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center in The Dalles, OR.
We attended the birds of prey nature talk.

We arrived at our cabin in Trout Lake Washington. It was a beautiful large log cabin set along the White Salmon river.

The next day we hiked into Indian heaven wilderness. It was a misty and rainy day, so we did not get mountain views. But the fall colors and the wilderness vistas were spectacular.
Martina and I hiked about 7 miles on the trail. She was feeling ill so we headed back. (unfortunately her roommate came down with the Noro virus. About half of our group of six ended up getting sick; I was lucky and escaped the illness).
We stopped at Natural Bridges on our way back to the cabin. The fall colors in this area were beautiful.
Our drive home was beautiful. We visited the Trout Lake Buddhist retreat before heading home. The resident monk was very welcoming and invited us to explore the temple and the grounds.
We walked the labyrinth
The temple. I did not take photos inside; and I also did not take photos within the meditation garden. In both those locations, the Abbey requested no electronics as the areas are for meditation.
We caught a glimpse of Mount Adams peeking below the clouds.
The Buddhist abbey shared the property with a Druid center. I appreciated that both the Buddhists and the druids provided information about their beliefs. I am a Christian, but I am also interested in what others believe.

On our way home to Oregon, Mount Hood was blanketed with fresh snow.
I was delighted to go on these two vacations, and to enjoy hiking with friends. My lip still is not healed, but the rest of my face is looking much better. While traveling I noticed my lip was swelling up after part of the scab fell off; so I went to the doctor when I returned home. I am taking antibiotics and icing the lip, and I think that is helping. I am very ready to be completely healed!
