Teeth 9/20/19

Friday, September 20, 2019

Almost two weeks ago on a Monday I had that dang infected tooth pulled. I got sicker and sicker and temps started pushing towards 103. I went to urgency care on Thursday. They upped the antibiotics. Friday morning I was better and then Friday evening temp shot up again. I started shivering really bad. This time the advice nurse sent me to the emergency room. The doctors upped antibiotics again and gave me a shot of motrin which got all my vitals back to normal. They sent me home. Temperature dropped and stayed under 100 F. But Sunday I started shaking so hard along with the dizziness, brain fog and sloshing noises in my head I also developed numb fingers and toes. GD called the ambulance. But I had taken two ibuprofen and two aspirin about 20 minutes before they arrived and I started feeling better. My vitals were again normal before they left. No significant temp this week, but extremely fatigued and dizzy if I exert in the slightest. But, I couldn't just leave well enough alone. Yesterday I developed a green color shift in my right eye. I shot off another email to my medical team. They said to go to urgent care again. I still can't even drive. I am having a pity party. I will have to get someone to drive me tomorrow, because I just don't feel like it tonight. The color shifts don't last too long.

All because of a dang infected tooth I have been trying to get fixed since March. I am sick of being sick.

Thank you for listening to my rant. I needed the history somewhere in writing and this seems to be a good place.

Cathy I am so sorry you are going through this. Very serious and very scary! I hope you can get the care that you need, and an antibiotic that works.

I’m also fighting off an infection. I had a minor surgery two weeks ago after I fell and had to get my lip stitched up. The lip turned bright red and started swelling, so I just started antibiotics. But I don’t have anything like the scary fever and brain symptoms that you are suffering from.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Cathy -- So sorry to read about your health problem/infection. Very scarey and it sounds like you may have been starting on a brain infection if your eyes were involved. Teeth and gum infections are extremely dangerous because they spread to the sinuses and the blood stream, especially if you have had heart problems. Usually dentists have you take an antibiotic for a week or ten days to help prevent that from happening. My young neighbor (34 year old male) just had a similar situation when he had a cracked wisdom tooth removed -- he was sick for about a week and had to take two different types of antibiotics. Praying that you are "on the mend" and can recover quickly. The "bugs" that we encounter as we age can be more dangerous since our immune system isn't quite as efficient. Rest and try to completely get back to normal before doing too much exercise or exertion. Thanks for sharing this as a warning to others!
